Director-General, Community Services Directorate

I am honoured to take part in ACT Children’s Week festivities this year.

The 2022 Children’s Week theme is “Children have the right to a standard of living that meets their physical and mental needs. The government should help families who cannot afford to provide this” and this is drawn from Article 27 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

As Director-General of the ACT Community Services Directorate, I am proud of the work being done in our community to support the wellbeing of Canberra’s children and to ensure their standard of living is the best it can be to provide an optimal start in life.

The ACT Government is committed through ongoing policy reform and community partnerships to ensure every child has a standard of living that meets their physical, mental, and social developmental needs. Children’s Week is a great opportunity to showcase the work of our dedicated community members who work tirelessly to support Canberra’s children and young people in a myriad of ways. This is also an opportunity to hear directly from our children and young people about what they need from us to have the best life they possibly can.

The Community Services Directorate is pleased to support ACT Children’s Week celebrations once again and I hope everyone has a great week participating in the range of activities on offer.
