The desire to see children thrive is one we all share, no matter where we live, where we’ve come from or who we are. It’s an investment in the future, but also in the present: a happy, healthy laughing child, full of hope and delight in the world around them is simple, pure joy.
Hands Across Canberra is delighted to assist with this year’s theme, based on the UN Convention on the rights of the child, article 24.
We fully endorse the value that children have the right to good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment so that they will stay healthy, and that richer countries should help poorer countries achieve this.
Here in Australia, we should be able to provide those standards across the nation although sadly, it’s not always the case among our vulnerable community members.
A full-hearted commitment to ensuring all children have what they need to thrive is the least we can do to build our community together.
