‘Children have the right to a clean and safe environment.’

Providing children with a safe and clean environment is integral to fulfilling their right to a quality education. Our schools work with parents and carers to create environments that provide children from all backgrounds with the best opportunities to learn and thrive.

Children are more likely to regularly attend school and are better able to engage in learning activities when they feel well, safe and comfortable. We strive to ensure our schools provide learning environments that are non-threatening, free from distractions, and conducive to concentration and cognitive development.

By explicitly teaching children how best to behave in classrooms and with each other, Catholic Education Canberra Goulburn schools create calm and positive learning environments where students can take measured risks with their learning.

This extends beyond the classroom to our broader school cultures. Our schools ensure that students of all backgrounds and abilities feel welcome in our communities so they can be active participants in their learning.

Guided by the principles of Catholic social teaching, we also enable our staff and students to respond to social justice issues through community service. In doing so, we uphold the dignity of all members of society.

We instil in our students the importance of caring for God’s gift of creation and the need to respect our environment.

Our schools provide children with the foundational skills to thrive in all aspects of their lives through the teaching of high expectation academic content, high-level pastoral care, and opportunities to become advocates for social justice.
